Statements to the 2026 meeting

Owe Fischer-Breiholz (Königsteiner LV), winner 300 meter steeple (34,80 seconds)

I just like that you don't start right away with the 400 meter hurdles, but instead have a shorter distance to begin with. I was thinking about doing a 600 meter race today - a longer distance - but I decided against it in the end. I wanted to focus more on improving my hurdling technique, and that's what I'm working on today, and it's going really, really well here. (kön)

Dany Brand (Switzerland), winner 1st heat 300 meter hurdles (8th hurdle) (35,34 sec) und 2nd place 300 meter hurdles (35,13 sec)

I really like the meet in Pliezhausen. It’s always fun to compete here. The meet and the atmosphere are really great. I’m pleasantly surprised by my performance. Now I’m looking forward to the summer season. (ft)

Maciej Megier (Poland), winner 2.000 meters steeple with meeting record (5:19,22 minutes)

I’m very happy with my performance. My goal was the Polish record (Editor’s note: 5:20 min), and I’m glad I was able to achieve it in my very first outdoor competition of the season. This was my third time competing in Pliezhausen, and it’s been a good race for me every time. This season, I also want to break the national 3,000 meters steeple record, which has stood at 8:09.11 minutes since 1976. (ft)

Malaika Mihambo (LG Kurpfalz), 6th place 80 meters (9,67 seconds) und 7th place 150 meters (17,93 seconds)

It was definitely fun. But I can tell that the training camp ended not too long ago and I’m still feeling it in my bones. One positive thing is definitely the improvement from the first race (80 meters) to the second (150 meters). My coach Uli (Knapp) is very satisfied, and if the coach is, so am I. Pliezhausen was definitely a hit again, and it’s really nice that so many kids were here and that I could make them happy with my autographs. (lud)

Andrea Esanu-Miklos (Romania), double winner 300 meter (37.90 sec) and 600 meter (1:26.12 min)

This was my first time here, and I'm happy about the win. I was hoping for a faster time, but unfortunately it was a bit windy. Still, it was a good start to the season. (cd)

Vladimir Aceti (Italy), winner 300 meter (33.17 sec)

Pliezhausen is a really nice meet. It was my first time competing here and my first race of the outdoor season. The 300 meters is a good test for the 400 meters. It’s going to be a long season. We’re aiming for success in the 4x400-meter relay at the European Championships and the World Athletics Ultimate Championship.

Olaoye Folawlyo (SCC Berlin), winner 80 meters (8,50 sec) und 150 meters (15,26 sec)

I'm in good shape and wanted to break the meet records today. I fell just short, but I'm very happy with my performance. (ft)

Rosina Schneider (TV Sulz), winner 80 meters, 9.45 seconds

It’s amazing that I won! I really didn’t expect that at all, given the strong competition. I love this meet: My family is here, it’s superbly organized, and yet it still feels like a family affair. Now I have the 150-meter race coming up, and then the 300-meter race as well. While I think the 150 meters is also my strong suit, the 300 meters is all about just getting through it. (lud)

Vera Petrykowski (Cologne Athletics), winner 3.000 meters, 9:11,32 minutes

I couldn’t really gauge it beforehand, since I usually run shorter distances. But it went pretty well at the start; it was tough running alone in the wind, but I finished strong. My first 1,500-meter race is coming up next week at the Pentecost Sports Festival in Rehlingen. So now I need to make sure I recover well. (lud)

Sina Mayer (LAZ Zweibrücken), 4th place 80 meters, 9.64 seconds

Following my double victory last year, I had my best season yet, so I was determined to compete again this year. The atmosphere is always especially great, too, because the spectators are right there with us. I like sprinting on those “crooked” 80-meter and 150-meter tracks to start things off. It was really fun again. (lud)

Eileen Demes (TV 861 Neu-Isenburg), 1st place 300 meter hurdles (8th hurdle), 39,16sec

This is my third time here. Today was the first time it didn’t rain, so it was especially fun. Elena (Kelety, Ed.) and I were able to really push each other. Pliezhausen is a great way to kick off the season in the 300 meter hurdles. My main goal for the season is the European Championships in Birmingham. (ft)

Elena Kelety (Frankfurt Athletics), 2nd place 300 meter hurdles (8th hurdle), 39,80 sec

This is my first time in Pliezhausen. I’ve heard a lot about the meet. It was a good start and I had fun. The race up to the 8th hurdle is a good test before I compete in the 400 meter hurdles next weekend. For me, just like for Eileen, the European Championships are the highlight of the season. (ft)
